I think Leica is forced to develop something different because of the other specifications of the M-camera system, especially for the wide angle lenses which are more common and difficult to handle in this system as for dslr.

I actually have the Leica S / HC Adapter with the Hasselblad 100/2.2 and I like the focal length as well as the rendering …… at 5,6. Wider open this lens is a bit to soft for my taste, especially at the borders.

    Leica S / V Adapter with the Hasselblad 110/2

I tried this combo but was a bit disapointed because of the CAs wide open. I prefer to use the M then when I want to get this look 🙂

really, a S Summicron would be fine 🙂

yes, I have it, and it works for portraits but I think its a bit to contrasty. I will try the Elpro for the 180, but the longer lenses have some drawbacks as well, especially in natural light

I will get mine tomorrow. I will not cancel my order for the new M, as from the specifications it should be better than the M (without the color option, of course)

when the MM fullfills what I hope, then it will be a second body for traveling and for nude art photos.

Personally, I'd just get a S-35mm which is a faster maximum aperture, is optimized for use on the S2, and is auto-focus.

this is what I did, but thank you anyway for the input!

    very beautiful model btw 😉

    Hi Marc

So, if I understand you right, the HC 100/2.2 is a nice lens on the S2? 🙂

I just wanted to add that Leica added specific Lens-Profiles for the Hasselblad-Lenses in their download area. This makes sense, as the sensore-size is different from the Hasselblads and so must the correction be different as well.

    I have another question:

I bought a Hasselblad 150 for testing this adapter. It works well, but in the EXIFS the lens is shown as a 150N, with has another lensdesign.

I tried to find some informations on the net about the differences of the 150 vs. 150N, but there is not much to read ot to see about it. Can anyone give some input?

Never worked with the Hasselblad-Lenses before, I find the focus-ring misplaced. Its very much there where you would expect it for a manual fokussing lens, but misplaced for an AF-lens. The solution Leica has on the S2 lenses works much better to me.

Well, for me the reasons to buy the Hasselblad-Lenses (I consider buying a 100/2.2 as well) was the misleaded upgrade-policy from Leica (to the CS-Lenses).

*finally* got mine, but didn't had much time to test it. Looks quite nicely built.

But there is a BIG fail: I mean this part isn't cheap, but why did nobody at LEICA had the idea to join A REAR LENS CAP? Or how do they think we will use this part?

So I have to order a rear lens cap separately from my dealer 😡

btw it's the same for the Hasselbald V-Adapter. That's really NOT a good service for the customer

it will be interesting what upgrade-options Leica will offer to existing customers, Hasselblad is very active in this regard.

Personally, I won't invest in a S3 anyway, not only because the price is somewhat to high to justify it, but also because I'm more than happy with the S2 (also compared to the newer Nikons).

What I could imagine, is maybe a kind of S-monochrom. This will need almost no investment from Leica, using the same sensor as for the S2, giving all the benefits of pure B&W.

And there are probably some serious B&W-photographers who will apreciate this variant. I certainly would, but I'm not sure if I can handle a second body (financially). But what a great picture this can be then!

    (1) Improved processing speed for a shorter delay between shots

yes, why not, but it's not mandatory

    (2) Significant leap in ISO range

would be nice, but I will not buy an S3 for this alone

    (3) High-resolution fingerprint-resistant touchscreen retina LCD

    hm ……… what for?

    (4) Fast, convenient focus verification — perhaps image magnification to 100% by a double-tap on the LCD screen

    same.

For me the focus is incredible reliable, I have almost no missed shots because of misfocussing. The best camera so far.

Personally, I don't need an S3, except maybe some better ISO-performance would be nice. But to be honest I prefer to take a D800 when I need high ISO. And even on the D800 high ISO are not bad, but not brilliant either. When you want top quality, you have to stay at 100 or 160 anyway.

What I would enjoy is a 100 mm portrait lens and a decent flash(-system)

    @brian

can't wait to read your experiences

    @Bobby Lee

You are right, the only point is that where I live it is rather difficult to compare two cameras without buying them. The stores that sell Leica and Nikon at the same time AND have also such items as an MM AND a D800E in stock and are willing to let you make a comparison are rare (I fact I wouldn't know any in a radius of 1000 km, but I may be wrong).

From what I have seen so far, I expect that the D800E is as good in resolution as an MM will be. The main difference will be in the high ISO range, where it will be interesting to see how the monochrome-CCD will hold up against a D800. When I process high ISO-file from the D800 to black and white, I get some film-like grain (maybe a bit harscher, though). This is not much a problem for contrasty pictures, but for eamble gets real soft when this grain adds to some lens-weaknesses.

I intend to use the MM in low-light situation only (art-nudes).

anyone tested the MM against the D800E in b&w?

I ordered a MM but got my D800E today and I'm very impressed about the high ISO – Qualities of the camera.

I suspekt the MM to be a bit better at 3200 ISO, but would really apreciate if someone made the test allready and can give me some advise.
