Excellent news. Thanks for the information. Never know when it might come in handy, but your sharing gives peace of mind to all of us.

    Thanks, Josh.

That reminds me – can the S2 be permanently customised to adopt a different file numbering sequence ? My file numbers are the same as yours and everyone else's.

Same as M9, I recall, but I permanently changed those in camera. From what I've seen so far, the S2 can only be customised for short term, or individual cards …. if I remember right.

Your site is well worth the visit. Great variety of approach. Also like the layout and navigation.

Thanks Jack. Nice of you to say.

Kurt, I'd obviously prefer an AF lens, but if Leica could make a 40/50/60mm Summicron with the same size and form factor as the Mamiya 80mm f1.9 with superb focus confirmation, would that not be worth dying for ? 😀

Don't need the whole range duplicating in manual focus, just one for a small pack, big image combination !

    Interesting, Kurt.

The wedding shoot was a baptism of fire ! I'd traded my M9-Ps to fund it so I had little alternative than to jump in the deep end with the S2. F2.5 and 1/12s was not best suited to the low light winter's day. On top of that, i wasnt aware that the Firmware I had installed at the time gave Shutter Priority a mind of its own. Arrrgh !

I own the 35mm and borrowed a 70mm and they performed exceptionally well. AF is a bit slow for candid work, but very precise. I fitted the microprism viewfinder which is tremendous, but no substitute for AF for spontaneous shooting. I'd like a small ‘pancake' lens to reduce the size of my ‘take everywhere' kit and for street shooting.

I'm perfectly comfortable with body the weight of the body, but 70mm apart, the S lenses are bulky. A tiny S 45mm would be wonderful for me and I'd only need one digital camera then. It's quite amazing to me how affordable the S2 is when it knocks out an M9 system..

For tripod work, my Hasselblad V lenses are more than adequate for the time being, especially as dense filters require manual focus anyway.

I'm looking forward to the coming months.

Alex, I took it on Friday afternoon at the Fiddlers Ferry Power Station at Widnes in the UK.

It was a shot from the first time out with my new camera; that is apart from a wedding I shot with it.

    Thanks Mark.

BTW, I need the flexibility because I traded my M9, M9-P and two Summilux lenses to acquire the S2 and S 35mm.

    I've been well hooked !!

Jack & David, Thanks for your comments. Appreciated.

I only bought the S 35mm with the S2 to put a toe in the water and to test if my 4 Hasselblad lenses could be used effectively for more ‘static' landscape and square portrait shots. It reduces the initial investment and saves me from adding another lens set to my kit cupboard, but more importantly it enables me to shoot my 203Fe until I decide to abandon film, if ever.

I shot and show this image because the S2 can clearly handle the big landscape, but I'd like it to be my walk around camera as well for street and small details like the above. In addition, I don't always want the clarity provided by super MF digital and Silver Efex here helps.

How does the S120mm fare in isolating the subject at close quarters, especially in a square, or 4×5/6×7 ratio format, and what is the bokeh like in those circumstances ?

If I was confident in producing with the S2 exactly what I display here, http://www.flickr.com/photos/rolophoto/sets/72157631449540908/ I'd be ready to become a digital-only shooter. That would suit me. 😀

Sorry, mine's a new, old one. An S2.

Don't deserve to be posting on this ‘S' thread. The thread Title threw me.
