David, my experience using this setup is that I have to push the exposure of the flash to +1 or maybe even more and of course this depending on the height of the ceiling and overall available light. But the general exposure of the picture is then much more balanced. (Think of ETTR).

On top of this I never use the fill light indoor to avoid hard shadows.

A funny side note: I was so clever to try out IKEA batteries at my last shooting. I never ever experienced batteries uncharging so extremly fast. A total waste of money. :p

    Hi Bobby,

I had a similar experience with my first S2 and verified this with my dealer and Leica directly as well. They both told me that the camera is brand new. For them it looks like that they forgot to reset the camera after quality control.

Even it is somehow curious you do not know what kind of QC they are doing. I do not think that they have done 9k shutter releases to test if the camera is working properly. Maybe part of this is renaming of files as well.

A lot of guessing. But I could not imagine that Leica would do stuff like selling used or refurbished S2's as new ones. That would be a little bit to stupid for a camera maker selling cameras with this price tag.

    Cheers,
    Pete

The S2 manual weighs 7.8 oz. For the price of an S2, we should have received a really heavy manual. The numbers get worse when one applies this test to lens manuals.

That is indeed a reasonable point. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You could choose between sRGB and AdobeRGB.

Interesting discussion and it shows the different needs and demands we have. Which also justifies a 30 and 35 S-lens and even much more. ๐Ÿ˜‰

My personal approach is only to use fixed focal zoom lenses for various reasons.

I am a big fan of 24mm (30mm in MF). It is a classic landscape fov, it usually has less problems in the corners and less distortion compared to lenses with a greater fov. If I do need more fov landscape wise I can stitch and then I do have even bigger pictures where I can crop until the sun goes down. ๐Ÿ˜‰ – So a lot of personal preferences.

@Kurt: I am jealous. I'm currently deciding between shoes and boots. ๐Ÿ™

Great stuff. I will replace my 35mm with a 30mm. This is the FOV for landscape I loved to use and I will love it again in the future. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have the screen since yesterday in the camera and it is amazing. It feels like back in good old non-AF SLR days. I am amazed how precise the screen works. Focusing manually is so smooth, even when you have something far far away the screen supports excellent focusing abilities. On top of this when using AF it shows you perfectly if the spot you want to have in focus, is in focus.

    Go get it. ๐Ÿ™‚

@mark: A tripod, stopped down to f/16 or f/22, manual focus and that's it.

I did have my S2 in the area last June, passing through Page toward Kanab. I understand, however, that the canyon is a strenuous and difficult visit.

    Thanks Doug,

Lower Antelope Canyon is totally relaxed. The good thing is that you could go there with your cam and tripod and then you are able to buy a photographer pass. This gives you two hours in the canyon without running around in a group. This means you have plenty of time, plenty of time gives you every comfort you need. And the canyon is just a long narrow strip with some ladders. Thatโ€™s it. We avoided the Upper one, as it is very touristy compared to the Lower. Definitely worth a trip.

    Cheers.

    Hi Al,

Thanks for the info. Does I understand you correct that shutter speed is controlled manually through the camera and aperture at the lens? I think this is the way the Schneider TS are working?

With the 30mm and a TS I'm only missing the 350 to reach completion. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Cheers,
