Pete Walentin replied to the topic Coming home… in the forum M Monochrom 12 years, 3 months ago
Congrats.
I'm learning so much again with the Monochrom, very cool. As already written in other forums about the Monochrom, it is interesting how I was used to look for colors and instantly when framing a picture in my mind which is based on colors, a pop-up appears in my brain which reads: Attention: Color only! – So much fun.
On the…[Read more]

Hey… pretty cool report. Thanks.
It is much more what I discovered during my hands-on and I have to admit while reading the details I thought that I would love to have this camera. But as another new toy arrived in my hands today I have to wait… 😉

I made it to Photokina today and had the chance to take a closer look at the new S and some of the new lenses.
The Leica booth is pretty nice and spacious. It wasn't that crowded, so there was a good chance to get hands-on every camera you like.
The Leica gallery behind is definitely worth a visit. Some amazing…[Read more]

Pete Walentin replied to the topic 30 mm or 35 mm (or waiting for the 24 mm and the 30-90 zoom) in the forum S Lenses 12 years, 3 months ago
Wait a few more days and you will have more options. If you like it or not. 😉
But in general it is about your preferences. For myself I do not want to go wider as 30mm on the S2. Even if a 24mm on the S2 is interesting. But if you like to have something wider. Wait for the 24. You could also get rid of the 35 and 70 to buy the 30-90mm.…[Read more]

Pete Walentin replied to the topic S2 Tethering experience on an editorial shoot. in the forum S2 12 years, 3 months ago
Hi Armin,
I was surprised when I read this the first time, but kept it in mind for the next shooting, which I had a few days ago. I used the S2 tethered with LR4 and did not experienced the problems you described.
I do not have the comparison between a Hasselblad and their Phocus Software but the experience I had with capturing with a…[Read more]

Pete Walentin replied to the topic The best for clean S sensor please in the forum S2 12 years, 4 months ago
Best is to let Leica do the sensor cleaning or at least a Leica dealer who offers sensor cleaning.
What I do regulary is to use Giottos Large Super Rocket-Air Blower to clean the sensor, holding the camera front down. This keeps the dust and dirt from getting stuck to the sensor and therefore beomce permanent and only removable by a propper…[Read more]

Nice. The light in the 3rd shoot is pretty nice and I prefer them compared to the stacked one.

Pete Walentin replied to the topic S3 — what new features would you like? in the forum S2 12 years, 6 months ago
Totally agree with Jack.
I heard some S3 rumors for quite some time now, but I did not heard anything which will let me spent money for a S3. Only minor improvements and therefore I'm not that sure that there will be a S3 in the next couple of months.
When I bought the S2 I was sure that this is the camera I could work with for the rest…[Read more]

Thanks guys.
Jack, you got me. 😉
BTW are you seeing only a part of the image and have to scroll to see the rest? I thought linking to a picture will extend the post width? But it does not here. Next time I will upload them again.

Pete Walentin replied to the topic M Monochrom review web site (but in Chinese language at the meantime) in the forum M Monochrom 12 years, 6 months ago
Thanks Bobby.
When I tested the M9M the amazing thing was that even meetering into a pretty bright city sky, there was no clipping in the shadows and you could bring the shadows (house roofs/walls) easily back in pp with a nice film lookalike grain. And vica-versa metering at the houses there was no clipping in the bright sky and easily…[Read more]
