I store my S2 lens down in my camera bag all the time. However, I don't yet have a 120mm so maybe it's not a problem.

Very impressive use of artificial light. I say that because you can't tell artificial light was used. Well done.

I couldn't get accustomed to the slowness of the X1 and eventually sold mine although I loved the size and image quality. The X2 has apparently rectified the only issue I had the the X1 so now it is very tempting. I am looking forward to David's review.

Thank you for the feedback. I received the screen yesterday from Dale Photo and look forward to installing and using it today.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I have not had any focus problems with my 70mm. Maybe others can offer some info.

There have been mentions of Leica making a shift lens for the S system, but I don't know where it is at on there lens road map. It would definitely open up additional uses for the S2. I would like one for landscape photography. It would be great to be able to eliminate the skewed trees when pointing the camera up slightly to get the composition you want. I often change to a portrait orientation to minimize the perspective effect on the trees.

Thank you Al. the orange color out of camera was over saturated kinda like bright reds do sometimes. I had to reduce the orange saturation by about -14 and yellow saturation by about -3 to get the color correct. It looks a little flat in sRGB color space for the web, but it is close.

Welcome to the forum Stephan. I am happy to see your post here. Thank you.
It is encouraging to see the Leica S2 Product Manager getting involved in this forum as it is always good to get info straight from the horse's mouth so to speak. I know all of my personal conversations with you regarding the S2 have been very informative. For example, I have learned that some things I think should be simple to fix or implement are not always as simple as they seem.

Thanks Al, that is what I wanted to hear.

Jack,
Thank you for the explanation. Your reasoning makes sense. I may have taken multiple shots of each position to allow focus stacking in post. However, your approach may be more pleasing to the eye.

Surely, the wait won't be much longer. The video showed a good example of why you might want the 35mm in the CS variety. That is probably the last of the lenses I would have considered for a CS application. Then again, I don't photography people very often so what do I know.

Jack, thank you for posting your images and link to the TOP article. Both were very enjoyable. I am not sure which image I like the best each have their own merits. On one hand I like the colors and texture of the peeling paint on the drain pipe and the old weathered bricks. On the other, I like the grandness of the diptych or reflected windows.
I am curious how you handled the DOF in the diptych. I assume you used the 35mm stopped down to about f11 or f13, but was that enough DOF – the building looks quite large. Did you have to do any focus stacking?

Georg,
I too am late to this thread, but when I read your first post it was like Déjà vu. I experienced a similar problem a year or so ago and about freaked out. I don't have a Leica dealer nearby, but a quick call to David and a new battery was on the way pronto. Problem solved. The battery is a weak link in the system. When it works it is outstanding, but it can and has failed completely without warning.
For what its worth, Leica should replace the bad battery for you.

At least now we know the proble is not your SDHC card or camera. Also, simply setting the camera to sequential let's you use the SDHC card as you wish. All-in-all this is not a huge deal, but one that needs to be fixed to prevent inadvertent loss of images because when on parallel, the camera acts like it is capturing the image (review screen shows image), but is not.

I just checked my S2 and can easily replicate the issue except I don't even have to change the ISO. If the camera is set to parallel and only a SD card is in the camera, then the images are not reviewable. As soon as I change it to sequential, the images are reviewable.
I didn't put the card in the computer to see if there were photos on the card.
More investigation is needed. My camera has NOT been updated to the firmware that was just released. Maybe that will fix it. Also, the camera was set to record DNG only.
