Please add some more.
JackJack,
I have another photo from this walk I will post as soon as I get in a hotel with decent Internet. It is so bad at tonight's hotel I gave up and switched to my iPad using cellular data.

Thank you for the complements guys.
The national park service had closed the road to this location so my daughter and I decided to walk there. I had stopped to take a photo on the way to this location when another photographer came walking up and we made small talk about the falling snow and beauty of the place. He was new to the area so I explained to him where I was headed and welcomed him to come along if he wanted. So there I am walking through the snow with my S2 with 70mm hanging on my shoulder and 35mm lens in my Ona Bowery bag on the other shoulder, then after a while the guy expresses some concern about me carrying my camera out in the elements. I assured him the camera was designed for this and I had used it worse conditions. I was kinda nice to be reminded of feature about this camera that I have been taking for granted.
Oh, I should add that the Ona bag did a great job of keeping my extra lens, cleaning cloth, and other bits dry. I have discovered this bag is excellent for carrying an extra lens and there is probably room for two. It is very small and well made. I should add that I like the bag so much that I bought the next size up (the Brixton) for carrying my iPad and other stuff for work. Now I just need to get a new M and a couple lenses to put in there.

Constable and Jack, these photos make me cold just to look at them. It is cold here in Tennessee so unfortunately I can relate to the photos. I visited south Florida last weekend and I really miss the warm sunshine. Plus, it was great to see David Farkas, David K., Roger, and Josh. Wish I had more time there.

The text below was copied from my voucher.
“You can trade up your S lens, with this voucher, at any time up to 30th September 2011, via the authorised Leica S dealer from whom you originally purchased it. They will exchange your current lens for a lens of same focal length but with a central shutter. The original purchase price of your lens will be credited against the purchase of the new CS lens in full, without any deduction for wear and tear. You will only pay the dif ference in price.”

Scott, I like the series. They provide a more personal viewpoint of the racing scene. The thin DOF works well in most cases, but it can be tough to get in the correct place with a rangefinder. For example, in the last photo the plane of focus is on the neck instead of the eyes unless that was intentional.

Fortunately, the camera and lens combination are smart enough to know when you are wanting to shoot at the wide-open aperture. For example, if you are at f3.5 with the lens zoomed to 30mm, then zoom to 90mm the aperture goes to f5.6, but when you zoom back to 30mm the aperture goes back to f3.5 just as it should.

Andy, congratulations on getting the 30-90mm. That lens is at the top of my purchase list. It is a very flexible focal range and has the typical Leica S character – sharp with excellent OOF rendering.
The little time I spent demoing the lens lead me to the conclusion that the lens hood may not be of much value when the lens is at the mid to longer end of the focal range. Considering the flare resistance of the S lenses, I am not sure it is worth using the lens hood. That goes against my normal approach as I normally always use a lens hood, but I may not when I get the 30-90mm.

Very nice image Joe. Congrats on getting the new S. I have seen your work on getDPI with other cameras in the past. You will do well with the S. I look forward to seeing more.
Josh, please keep your thoughts and discoveries about the new S coming – even if it is a bit frustrating that I don't have one (yet).

I had the pleasure of using a Mono for a couple of hours in NYC. I can imagine how much fun you had making these images. It is a remarkable camera and its high ISO performance creates image making possibilities that were previously not possible with a rangefinder.

That is pretty cool. I can see that feature of the new S as being very beneficial. Of course there are a lot more improvements in the new S that are very beneficial. I wouldn't trade up for just the GPS, but the sum total of the new features makes it tempting.

Alex, thank you for sharing the images. ISO 1600 looks pretty good to me and cleans up nicely if desired. I look forward to seeing more images from the 30-90mm. I had a chance to try a prototype at PhotoPlus and I was impressed with the image quality and out of focus rendering of the few test shots I was able to get.

Pretty impressive that you were able to recover the shadows well enough to show the colors in the glass windows.

Congratulations Constable and Rolophoto. I am still very happy with my S2, but I would love to get the new S. Leica did a great job with the improvements from the S2 to new S.

Thank you for the heads up Al. I certainly don't need another sensor cleaning disaster.
