I like your sunburst. I have a similar photo from this past Fall. It is fun to catch this type of atmospheric condition in a photo.

Hi Arif,
Unfortunately, I have seen this before except my line was green. I was able to show this problem on my camera to Stephan Shulz and Toni Felzner (S2 product managers) at the S2 studio event during PhotoPlus in NYC last October. They indicated that it can be fixed with a custom firmware. I choose to send my S2 back to Germany for repair since it was experiencing problem with the remote release port. You will have to contact Leica for resolution. Hopefully, the firmware approach will work for you. Basically all it entials is for you send Leica Germany an uncrompressed DNG photographed to their requirements (sorry I can't recall them).
Also, I can assure you that the line the photos you showed is not from a scratched sensor. I accidently scratched my sensor cover glass when cleaning and know exactly what that looks like in a photo.

David Farkas and Josh Leher brought along a Schneider 120mm tilt/shift lens on the S2 Fall Foliage trip. It was in Mamiya mount and attached to the S2 via adapter. I tried the lens a couple times. It is very well built, easy to use (once you learn how to use it), and it is a very good performer.
I am sure David or Josh can provide additional info.

Whew! I am glad you were able to update the firmware. Also, I am very impressed with your dealer taking care of you the way he did.

I like it. Well done. The sun angle is great for backlighting the flag and stone building. However, it puts the wreaths leaning on the headstones in shadow. To bad you can't have it all.

I have a question about the back screen on my S2,
it's bad when the light is dark…
sometimes it's grey sometimes it's dark with special effect ! 🙂
but when the light is good, the screen is normal…
on the magnific S2 the screen must be all right and all the time I think !
thanks for your answers,
kind regards,
SébastienThat doesn't sound right at all. My screen is better in dim light than it is in bright light. Maybe your screen brightness is set too high and it is washing out. That is the only think I can think of to cause the screen to be grey in dim light and good in normal light. At least is an easy menu selection to adjust the screen brightness and see if that helps. Otherwise you may have a problem with the screen itself.

Al, it appears you are having a good time in South Florida. In my opinion, it is a sad commentary on our current culture to lable that very attractive lady as a plus-sized model. She doesn't appear to be skinny, but she certainly doesn't seem to be what I think of as plus-sized. Of course I am basing my comments on your photos and perhaps your photographic skills make her look less plus-sized than in real life.
I second David's and Roger's recommendations for the early morning light on the life guard towers.
David K, did you trade in the Mini and if so what is the new toy?

I used the Upstrap with my Leica M8 and really liked it. However, I have not used the larger version for larger cameras so I can't help you much there. Sorry.

The S2 and associated lenses are very expensive no doubt about it. I fully expect the S2 to be replaced with an S3 (or whatever they call it) and at that time the S2 will be worth considerably less. However, the S2 will still function the same and be capable of the same exceptional IQ. If or when I decide to replace the S2 it will be voluntary. That was part of my rationalization when I bought the S2 and lenses over a year ago.

Good one Jack. Although three different, but complementary images of Courtney would make a nice triptych of sorts.
David K. That is great news for Courtney and I it should be a source of pride for you.

Courtney is a beautiful model and you did great job photographing her. I hope you share more of this session.

As far as I know, the CS lens won't help you (or not much) in terms of less vibration when shooting handheld. The reason is that the mirror still has to travel up during the shot sequence whether a focal plane shutter or central shutter is used. I think the mirror would be the biggest source of vibration. Perhaps I am wrong and someone else will chime in.

Thank you for the kind comments everyone. I was drawn to make the image because the multiple mini falls all on one level made for a rather wide larger overall falls. I didn't really think about printing the image when I made it. The ratio of this image is not very practical for display except for in a very unique space.
Jack, I like your conversion of the image to a quadriptych.
I made another set of photos of these same falls using the 70mm in portrait orientation and it includes Jack photographing the falls on the right hand side. However, it is going to take a lot of post processing to make that pano work because the dynamic range required multiple exposures for each position to be stitched.

That is good to know. Thank you.
I actually ventured outside my comfort zone of landscapes and wildlife earlier this week and did some bridal shots for a friend. Surprisingly, I ended up using all three of my lenses – 35mm, 70mm (most used), and 180mm (least used).

I agree. I would love to have the 120mm.
