Mark Gowin replied to the topic Suggestions for feature additions in future S2 firmware updates in the forum S2 12 years, 5 months ago
Welcome to the forum Stephan. I am happy to see your post here. Thank you.
It is encouraging to see the Leica S2 Product Manager getting involved in this forum as it is always good to get info straight from the horse's mouth so to speak. I know all of my personal conversations with you regarding the S2 have been very informative. For…[Read more]

Jack,
Thank you for the explanation. Your reasoning makes sense. I may have taken multiple shots of each position to allow focus stacking in post. However, your approach may be more pleasing to the eye.

Surely, the wait won't be much longer. The video showed a good example of why you might want the 35mm in the CS variety. That is probably the last of the lenses I would have considered for a CS application. Then again, I don't photography people very often so what do I know.

Jack, thank you for posting your images and link to the TOP article. Both were very enjoyable. I am not sure which image I like the best each have their own merits. On one hand I like the colors and texture of the peeling paint on the drain pipe and the old weathered bricks. On the other, I like the grandness of the diptych or reflected…[Read more]

Mark Gowin replied to the topic S2 dead–any help appreciated in the forum S2 12 years, 6 months ago
Georg,
I too am late to this thread, but when I read your first post it was like Déjà vu. I experienced a similar problem a year or so ago and about freaked out. I don't have a Leica dealer nearby, but a quick call to David and a new battery was on the way pronto. Problem solved. The battery is a weak link in the system. When it works it is o…[Read more]

Mark Gowin replied to the topic Firmware Glitch with SDHC Cards? in the forum S2 12 years, 6 months ago
At least now we know the proble is not your SDHC card or camera. Also, simply setting the camera to sequential let's you use the SDHC card as you wish. All-in-all this is not a huge deal, but one that needs to be fixed to prevent inadvertent loss of images because when on parallel, the camera acts like it is capturing the image (review screen…[Read more]

Mark Gowin replied to the topic Firmware Glitch with SDHC Cards? in the forum S2 12 years, 6 months ago
I just checked my S2 and can easily replicate the issue except I don't even have to change the ISO. If the camera is set to parallel and only a SD card is in the camera, then the images are not reviewable. As soon as I change it to sequential, the images are reviewable.
I didn't put the card in the computer to see if there were photos on the…[Read more]

I haven't seen this problem, but then again, I can't say for sure I have ever duplicated your sequence of events. I will try it just for the heck of it.

Mark Gowin replied to the topic Leica S2 New England Fall Foliage Trip – Day Five in the forum Images to Share 12 years, 6 months ago
I too prefer the gap between the images of the triptych. I also prefer paper prints over canvas prints however there are some advantages with gallery wrap canvas and I have recently had some made for my own walls. I did a several shot pano of the NYC skyline last fall while at PhotoPlus, was very happy with the results, and decided to get it…[Read more]

I smile every time I see that photo due to the back story. This photo turned out great as a large triptych. Seeing a photo of your triptych on the wall is the only way to get an idea of the scale without seeing it in person.
Question, it appears the triptych consists of three gallery wrapped canvas prints. Did you cut the individual images…[Read more]

Mark Gowin replied to the topic Sensor issue on M9 in the forum M9 12 years, 6 months ago
I know that heart sinking feeling of realizing there is a problem with your sensor. It's even worse when you are the one that caused it. It will be a long time (if ever) before I will wet clean my S2 sensor again. I am glad your experience turned out so well.

Mark Gowin replied to the topic S2 shooting technique advice pleas in the forum S2 12 years, 7 months ago
I have had similar experiences with the S2 autofocus. I gave up and try to manual focus adjust which works ok, but not great, if the subject speed is slow and steady. Hopefully, someone else will post a better experience and/or solution.

Mark Gowin replied to the topic Schneider 4 Filters on 120mm – + Experience with variable neutral density filters? in the forum S Lenses 12 years, 7 months ago
Hi Peter,
I don't own the 120mm, but as I recall you can use a filter holder on the 120mm if you get the correct size adapter ring. There is an issue when the lens fully retracted and I bet there is a spacer or something available to get around that. Several photographers who attended David's Fall Foliage trip last year were using the…[Read more]

I had been using the Lightroom 4 beta and didn't notice any speed issues. In fact, it seemed very fast on my new laptop. Now that I have upgraded to the actual LR 4 release I am noticing slow downs even when zooming to 100% which was near instantaneous in the Beta version.
