Gary, stay with it as it takes a little time to fully integrate any new system into your work style. It's certainly not perfect, but the resulting images are hard to resist. I think that you are quite right about needing a small pancake type of lens for street shooting. For a while I gravitated between attaching the Mamiya 80/1.9 and Hasselblad…[Read more]

Awesome shot, Gary. How are you liking the S2 experience so far?

Are Monochrom's still trickling in? It certainly seems like an agonizingly slow introduction. I sent a request to my favorite Leica dealer in May before the announcement and I still haven't seen a glimpse of the light of day.

Nice set. Personally, I think the S2 really shines in desert light.

Very impressive photos. I'm glad you were safe. So much in life is about timing.
I like how you instinctively started photographing. In a situation like you described, photography is much more than just documenting what's in front of you. It's an opportunity to ask and to try to uncover the question ‘why?'

David, I'm impressed with how much your lighting skills have grown. The shots of the woman with the red swimsuit are gorgeous.

Please keep us posted. I'm really interested to see the results of your pictures when the Painter has done his work.
Thanks Iceandfire and Pete. Pete, I'll post an image when I have something.

Thanks Jack, you are very kind.
As I mentioned to Jack, I have a gallery showing coming up in Manila in October … so it'll be exciting to see what local reactions will be to my slices of Filipino daily life. In addition, I have another tentatively scheduled for March of next year that will be a mixed media show with a Filipino painter who…[Read more]

Derick,
I'm located here in the Manila area also. I used an M8 and M8.2 a number of years ago and may still have a few IR filters sitting in a cabinet somewhere at home. If you can wait, I will be back in the US at the beginning of July for a couple of weeks. If I still have any filters, I can bring them with me when I return and you'd be…[Read more]

Hi David,
Have you made an S2 preset for this version of Lightroom? I've used one that you developed in the past that was a great jumping off point. If you have a new one, would you mind sharing?
Thanks.
Kurt

The 50mm II and the 100/2.2 would be nice walking around lenses though. The 35-90 is an excellent lens, but you are right, it is a beast.

Very nice series of images, Cam. I agree that the zoom would be nice. I only worry that I'd be not as fond of the variable aperture.

Thanks Pete. The great thing about getting out and shooting everyday is that it provides me with a convenient excuse to ignore the notion of self-editing … for better or worse.

Nice job, Jack! Look at those grey skies … they are so appropriate for the time of year. I'm very glad it's been a manageable winter for the upper midwest this year … it figures that it'd be an easy winter the year that I'm away.
