Monochrom's are coming in, just very slowly. Demand is still extremely high which is great, but it will probably be a number of months before us dealers are caught up on our lists. Everyone I know that's received one absolutely loves it, and having some brief time to test it myself recently, I can confirm that there is no other camera like it that I've ever used.

Gorgeous images! I've always been a Porsche enthusiast. Did they have any 959's there?

I love the M9 for it's versatility and small size, but the S2 is simply great for almost everything. I use it as a walk-around camera. Yes, it's bigger than the M, but I spent few years lugging around a Canon 1D with a 24-70mm so the S2 is small in comparison to that. Plus auto-focus is nice to have.

This is definitely a “grey area” right now, but I will be asking Leica about this when I see them in New York this week. I have a feeling we won't have many updates until the CS lenses begin shipping.

Unfortunately the CS lenses have not yet started to ship from Leica yet. They will have a number of pre-production examples at Photo Plus Expo in New York City next week, and I will be sure to ask them what the status of production is.

I tried this on an M9 just for fun, but no luck. Is there a similar service menu for the M9?

I actually did not know of that shortcut to get to the M8's service menu, however I can confirm that it works! This is the screen you will see after selecting “Body Debug Data”:

A quick follow up…it's been about a year since we had the OLED screen's replaced on our S2-P bodies, and they haven't faded at all. And it looks like it's the same OLED that's going in the new S, which is a good sign.

I've been pleasantly surprised with the S2's reliability over the past few years, however that doesn't mean that problems never happen. Leica's S service in Germany is absolutely fantastic, courteous, and their turnaround times are very quick. If you send the camera directly to them (without going through Leica USA in NJ) it's usually two weeks door-to-door. The faded top OLED is a known issue for some of the earlier cameras, and Leica will replace that for free for the lifetime of the product (as it was a manufacturer's defect). The new OLED is far superior and will not fade. Refer to this post for reference:

I think the camera needs a trip to Germany, they'll clean the sensor and viewfinder as well, so it's not a bad idea.

Am I the only one excited about using the Leica Apo-Telyt-Modular 800mm f/5.6 setup on the new M? I wish we never sold our 800mm f/6.3!

The price of the new Leica S will be $21,950. This looks AMAZING and I am extremely excited. A few highlights that I am excited about:

-Instant 100% zoom with a longer press of the thumb wheel
    -High resolution LCD screen
    -Built in GPS
    -Regular ISO stops finally!
    -Bigger buffer
    -Level in viewfinder
    -Gorilla glass LCD
    -New lenses, 30-90mm, 24mm, and 120mm tilt/shift

    Mark:

I avoid any kind of wet cleaning of the M9 sensor, I find it tends to make things worse. I frequently use a Giottos Rocket Blower to blow surface dust off the sensor. For more thorough cleanings, I send the camera to a local service shop that will do a wet cleaning with the proper facilities and equipment. A few touch-ups in Lightroom or Photoshop is a lot cheaper than replacing a scratched sensor.
