Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineJosh,
Here is one not shot from a window, I walked outside in the rain. The day before this bird bath was empty. Nice that the S2 can handle the rain so well. Our drought is over for a day.
I learned on the New England S2 trip last year that autumn colors work well in rain. The second shot is sort of an abstract that I may play with a bit more. Both 35mm.

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineWelcome Veeracha,
Your perspective is much appreciated on this forum.
And I would enjoy seeing some photos from Thailand when you can post them.So it appears that your most desired feature was for a new Leica agent to be appointed in Thailand and it appears you got your desire. Anything else in an S3?
Jack

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineGreat shots!
1. Tell us how you keep from electrocuting yourself with your power source in the surf?
2. My favorite was the B&W shot.
3. As long as I was using sepia with architecture, I had to suggest you try sepia on the great B&W shot. Note: I asked and received permission from David to post this interpretation of his photo.Jack

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineDavid,
Yes, I had a predetermined size in mind when I took the Miller Park shot, which was the full merged image shown on the web link. But then I started to try and make the image more abstract through elimination. I have a client in mind that might want the full shot, but the abstraction is for me. If they purchase the shot, I will show you the installation. If you want to see how sepia looks installed in a corporate environment, I am attaching another shot* from many years ago, which was the first time I sold sepia for a corporate installation, in this case WE Energy, and the first time I used multiple panels, but before i got into triptychs. You can see the advantage of sepia, as using a color photo with a blue sky would have overpowered the conference room, and B&W would have been too dramatic. The shot in the distance is from the series too. While this is not an S2 shot, you can see from the enlarged size, why I moved to using an S2. The image is of the Milwaukee Art Museum, which has been shot many times, but this is a strobe study of the moving wings of the building. Subsequently GE Medical bought it too. I guess I could do the same theme with the Miller Park roof closing, but not as a strobe. That would work as a triptych.
*side note: The MAM wings photo demonstrate that when one shoots architecture, unlike landscapes, a huge enlargement can be done from low resolution. Please forgive the non S2 shot but they didn't exist then, This 5'x7′ composite image was shot with a then cutting edge 3mpix camera. In digital, lines can just be enlarged forever. Enlarge a landscape too much and the leaves should be showing veins and they won't, if you follow my analogy. I plan to reshoot this image with the S2 this fall and will try to post that when finished.

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineFor dust, I use compressed air carefully to not let the liquid portion out of the can .
For what appear to be spots? That would definitely be a job for Leica. David F would tell you he uses LR spot remover in post production, or back to Leica, he never touches his sensors, probably because he experiences so many horror stories from those who do. Right David?Jack - August 2, 2012 at 2:29 am #2791Jack MacDEstablished MemberUSA, St. Louis, MO and Phoenix, AZJoin Date: Jun 2011Posts: 367Currently using:
Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineIt has been one year since I asked this question. Today I saw apple is now selling
a $29.00 Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter. That allows me to do a direct connect to my 6T external HD with 800 firewire from my Mac Air.
This will hold me until I eventually upgrade my iMac to a version with thunderbolt and a thunderbolt external drive. No rush to do that yet. Or perhaps first I get a thunderbolt external drive that this adapter will connect to my current iMac.
Meanwhile, David is probably happy that Mac finally has USB3, right?

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineI wanted to see your shots at 5000 and 10,000 full sized. Could you upload a few please?
This web site allows for very high resolution uploads, which then allow close examination for the grain you are mentioning.Jack

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineSure, Leica is listening to us, but their bigger market is Asia, and I don't see many users from Asia on this site other than Kurt. Perhaps over there, it seems, buyers purchase the S2 as a luxury good, more than just a very fine tool?

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineTrade in program? Please. that's wishful thinking as Leica has never needed that. Nor will they need it now. Frankly a trade in program undermines Hassy values in my mind.
New users to the S system require a more modern body, even if the S2 outperforms their abilities. Most existing users who want an S3 will either sell their S2 used without a trade in program, or keep it as a backup. I invested in the system for the glass and the idea of a body built from the ground up. If a S3 come along, fine, the concept is still a MFD in a small body with digital lenses built for the next 10 years. So what if used S2 bodies sell for half what I paid almost three years ago? No surprise, my car depreciated more than that, and the S2 paid for itself in the meantime, via revenues and pleasure. My M8 depreciated more, and there was no trade in program for the M8.
Again, an S3 is required to motivate new buyers entering the franchise, not because existing users need an S3. Net, please don't expect a trade in program.

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineCam,
I like that a great deal. I think I may try to borrow on your style a bit. I should have added a moving subject to this shot.Port Townsend is a very interesting place. Post a few more, but change the title from Dune to Rain Shadow.

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineStumbled across a way of doing triptychs in three dimensions. An S2 is not required as the file size is very small. I tested this on these old photos as the guys on that trip will recognize the shots. Flash is required for this to work, so forget the iPhone or iPad.

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineFirst, I would not like an S3 introduced for at least another year. Let's let technology in sensors and hardware do a bit of a leapfrog. Otherwise, i will wait for an S4.
So my first feature request is DELAY.
I would like more ISO sure, and a better bigger buffer would occasionally be more useful. I would like an electronic ND filter, i.e. a lower ISO too, but not required.
Might as well give me more sensor resolution as I do huge enlargements, and since unlike Nikon, the lenses can handle it.
Yes I would like a finer display for ability for focus checking on zoom. The amazing thing about the S2 is that so much has already improved with firmware updates, and the camera is so good as it is, that an S3 would not require me to buy an upgrade. Oh, I guess others would want a price drop, but Leica doesn't seem to need to do that, and so they won't.
So, if they want existing owners to buy a S3, they will probably need quite an upgrade of items. But I don't believe Leica thinks like that. They will merely introduce an S3 when there are enough improvements to make it worthwhile for Leica to change, rather than a need to have a better camera. For new purchasers of the S system, they might as well remove the issue of ISO and resolution. For the studio pros, the CS lenses, and more lenses, even if via adaptor will make a bigger difference than an S3, and that comes in Oct. so they say.
Hey, the camera as is, will be incredible for years, thanks greatly to the lenses.

Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineGlad to see you back to posting some work. As usual, quite nice. But don't forget, you can shoot the S2 in the rain, so rain in not an excuse not to be out shooting.
