Dale,
If a camera does not have enough “latitude” or Dynamic range, the solution as you suggested would be HDR via combining two or more images. I used to do that and it required a tripod usually, no motion in the subject like the moving cars, and I still didn't like the result very often. Probably my fault. With enough dynamic range as with the…[Read more]

Dale,
The issue turned out to be file size.
If this one goes up, we know 1.5 m can work.
If it doesn't, then I go to a mere .5mUsed to be David allowed huge files, up to 20M. I think when he revised the forum, that changed.

For all the reviews and forum discussions about the SL, half the LFI issue of 8/15 covers the thinking behind the SL in incredible detail. If you want to understand Leica's thinking you should get it and read it.

This is handheld, 1/60th at ISO 1600. 30-90 Zoom set on 30mm. f6.8
So there is very little camera shake. -

Very smooth update. I especially appreciate the long press on the rear dial allowing a 100% zoom enlargement on playback. Much easier than spinning the top dial.
That has to be one the faster firmware updates in Leica history.

Jack MacD replied to the topic 007 high iso high DR in the forum Leica S (Typ 007) 9 years, 1 month ago
This shows the beginning image as LR adjustment. Yes this wold have been achievable with a ND grad filter, but the building would have been an issue.
It used to be that PS was required to do this, now it can be done in LR. -

This is a sunset shot that probably didn't need to be shot at 3,200 but was done to test how much recovery of the shadows can be accomplished after high ISO use.

This project started on the T forum images to share.
I had shot a scene with my T as a triptych.
I said I would revisit it with an S which I subsequently did. The image is also shown on the T site for comparison to the triptych. This is a seven image merge of a S with a 24mm lens shooting vertically. Probably more images to merge than needed. The…[Read more]
