I read it the same way. 30,000 M9's is an awful lot of camera for Leica to manufacture by hand though.

For me, 50 Summilux asph no question.
But I do have a soft spot for the humble 50/2.8 Elmar (no pun intended:rolleyes:)

Like Doug I use a Thumbie too, which seems to balance the M9-P better as well as giving better grip. I haven't had a problem with the adhesive strip and I've used one on my M8 for 18 months or so.
I use a Leica 1.25 magnifier most of the time (because I forget to take it off:o) but it helps with fast lenses especially the 90 APO-Summicron.
An Abrahamsson softie that helps me get at least an extra stop and maybe two if I'm lucky.

Thanks for posting, David. I did the upgrade on my M8 and have always been happy that I did.
At the price I'm kinda glad that I held off buying an M9 and went straight for the M9-P when it was released but it's good that Leica is offering the choice to upgrade for those who value it.

I don't shoot as much film as I'd like to – several rolls a month maybe – but when I do it's through a IIIf or a BP MP. And a Hexar RF if I'm feeling a bit lazy.
