On the 006, the max exposure time was reduced as you upped the ISO, which made 1 min/ISO100 maximum exposure. Does the 007 keep 60 seconds even on higher ISO? Is there any reason you cannot have Bulb on CMOS?

Great review! Does it have a maximum exposure time? I found the maximum on the S006 limiting for nighttime/tripod photography.

  • Sorry to report that I experienced the same with my 120CS today

  • Sometimes I experience that the shutter does not release when I press the shutter button. I use manual focus, with autofocus on the joystick. This happens even if focus confirmation is OK.
If I hold the shutter button down, it will release after a few seconds. Is there some setting I have overlooked?

Can you please explain the technical differences between the S and the S-E, or is it only the guarantee?

  • Just installed the new firmware for the S2, and tested autofocus on 120CS and 180mm. I have to judge by memory only, but it seems faster and more precise. Maybe a little noisier, too? When focus changes are big, it seems to go brrrrr-br, with a short fine correction after a very brief pause. Only one incident of hunting (to macro) on the 120CS,…[Read more]

  • My local dealer today confirmed that there are two errors in Leica's documentation for the latest firmware update for the lenses (LLF016).

    The corrected codes are:

    Leica Vario Elmar-S 1:3.5-5.6/30-90mm ASPH
    – 134.9.16.0

    Leica Super-Elmar-S 1:3.5/24mm ASPH.
    – 134.9.11.0

Thank you for testing and confirming. I raised this with a Leica S representative in Europe, he found…[Read more]

  • I have a Mamiya APO 300mm F/4.5 IF on hand at a good price, it is supposed to work with the S2 via the L16025 adapter. Does anyone have experience with this lens on the S2? What will the actual FOV of lens be on the S2, given that it is made for a larger sensor?

  • I was lucky to get a used S2 kit with 30/70/120 at a decent price in November. Although I did not have high expectations for low light photography, I got the chance to try it out at a Christmas concert with a local band in Oslo. I did not go higher than ISO 320, so in general sharpness was a challenge due to subject movement, but I ended up with a good set of keepers, using the 30 and the 120 alternately. Positively surprised, but should probably have tried higher ISO.

Seems I have to answer myself: I have done some experimenting with 2 SF 58's, and the short answer is: Manual mode on the camera flash + M-slave mode…[Read more]
