Very nice, Pete! I particularly like the second and third shots as abstractions that keep the eyes moving. I've never been there, but have marveled at photos of the formations. I did have my S2 in the area last June, passing through Page toward Kanab. I understand, however, that the canyon is a strenuous and difficult visit.

I appreciate the suggestions, gents! I've visited the manufacturer's websites and those of some suppliers too. There are a number of Ex Officio vests, but the search doesn't bring up a light/summer weight model, except at one vendor where it's listed as unavailable (though it looks pretty good).
At Columbia's website, the search feature (like…[Read more]

Marc, I have similar thoughts. The world changes. Shortly after I got an M8, my local pro film lab closed its doors. Just like that, my world went digital, and I have rarely used any of my many film cameras since. Most should go to someone who will use them. Getting the S2, I sold nothing. I never used my Pentax dSLRs much, but now with the S2…[Read more]

Hi Andy – I assume you have a household policy for your residence? If they have a value/item limit, perhaps a separate rider could be drawn up. Cars often are valued more, of course, and are put to risk at least as much, so there should be a solution.
Good reminder for me to again discuss this with my household agent… As I recall previously…[Read more]

Very thoughtful offer, Jack, thank you! I think I will pass, as there would be a orange vs red clash with my Leica ballcap. š Actually something more subtle would be preferable. It has some notable features, with the removable document holder, unusual side pouches, epaulets etc. The fabric looks shiny in the pic… Iām sure someone will value t…[Read more]

Thanks for the useful example pics, Josh! Mine has distinctly green letters like the bottom example, indoors where I can see it. Outdoors if I cup my hand around it, then it's faintly visible.
[Mine, shipped yesterday to NJ by UPS Next Day Air, didn't even make it out of town yet, so I think I'll be getting a refund on the shipping costs.]

My S2 went off to Allendale NJ Thursday afternoon, UPS Next Day Air, due to arrive before 3pm eastern time Friday. I paid for that leg of the journey. Perhaps Leica USA will get it off to Germany later Friday… they pay for that part of the trip, and the return to me later by Overnight shipment.
I spoke with Carmen, very helpful, clearly…[Read more]

Oh, yes, the place of refuge; I've been there a couple times but somehow missed seeing that dramatic shoreline. Or certainly missed seeing it in that way you did! We have stayed at Keauhou, so it was not so far down the road to visit.
We'll be on Maui this time, so will have other things to shoot. Thanks!

Very nice indeed! I especially like #4, though #1 & 3 show an intriguing “beach-scape”. I'm curious about the location, as I'll be traveling to the state later this Fall. Thanks for posting!

Welcome, Craig! In moving from 35mm to MF, you might prefer to retain the familiar form factor by choosing the S2. That was part of my decision, and the other was the Leica user interface. I'm not a pro, and seldom use a tripod or long lenses for my street, documentary, travel, people type shooting.
Back when I chose MF, I was a Pentax SLR…[Read more]

I can no longer manage the tight curves of that highway around the north shore between Hana and Paia; I get nauseous and dizzy. The last time going CCW I barely made it to Mama's Fish House to recuperate! The first time, years ago, going clockwise, the pavement ended a mile or so past Kipahulu (aviator Charles Lindbergh is buried on the grounds of…[Read more]

Very nice collection of shots, cleverly avoiding typical vacation snapping! š I think my fav is the first one, which I'm guessing is in moonlight. Lovely colors, reflection. And I like that black sand beach pic too… what is that location; road to Hana?

A lovely landscape, Arif, with a dramatic sky. Still, the clouds allowed some sunshine where needed.
Plenty of detail to admire… and for some reason it looks familiar.

Congratulations on the “new” kit! Coincidentally, my chrome M8 has the shutter and viewfinder upgrades too. I hope you'll enjoy yours as much as I like mine!

Interesting issue in itself, but also it implies there have been 30000 M9 cameras sold… if 15 units is .05% of units sold. Or am I reading this wrong…
