Thanks
The model shots were taken with the 70mm. If I could only have either the 70mm or the 120mm I would take the 70mm as I…[Read more]

Yes… that is correct.

Jack…I like the way this looks when broken up into quarters. And I will confess that I didn't know the word “quadriptych” existed.

Wow… that's spectacular. I never got down there I was so busy shooting up top. I think Jack would say…triptych 🙂

The advantage of CS lenses is only relevant when shooting with lights…you get a faster sync speed…1/500th vs 1/125th for non CS lenses. So if you're just shooting with available light stick with the non CS lenses. But if you shoot with lights the faster sync speed will allow the use of wider apertures with accompanying shallower DOF. I won't be selling my 35 in favor of the 30. They are both outstanding lenses but for what I shoot I prefer the 35. I'd speculate that many new buyers will still opt for the 35 unless they have a specific need for the wider focal length. With the backlog in lens production I'm not too worried about dropping values. Back in the glory days I…[Read more]

David K replied to the topic First Look at the Leica S2 Microprism Focusing Screen in the forum S2 13 years ago
Was not aware they were shipping yet…but glad to hear they are. I had a chance to play with one briefly on the fall foliage trip but David wasn't giving it up without a fight 🙂 The one issue I want to resolve is whether you can accurately focus something that's in, say, the corner of the screen…as opposed to putting the microprism on that…[Read more]

S2 customer service is not good. It is, in my experience, lacking in comparison to the service and tech support that I have obtained for my M cameras.I get tech support from Josh Lehrer at Dale, not from Leica and I am very worried should I experience a hard failure with any part of my S2 system.

Thanks David…looking forward to the report.
Can't recall if I mentioned an issue that I've run into with locking down my manual settings and losing that lock when the camera goes to sleep or is turned off.

Thought it might be good to bump this thread after David and Josh attended Photo Plus to see which of the many suggestions here are getting Leica's attention..

I did see it. Josh and I are meeting with S2 product managers Stephan Shulz and Toni Felsner this afternoon. We have plenty to discuss, and I'm hoping, lots to share after our meeting.
Don't bother coming back to Florida without micro prism screens 🙂

I was fortunate not to have had to sell either my Nikon D3S or M9 systems to acquire the S2 kit although I did have to part with my earlier MF kit and a LOT more lenses to afford it.
As my results improve with the S2 I have given serious thought to whether the Nikon D3S system is something I should consider selling. The main advantages for…[Read more]

The light on the dead trees at that moment in time was very special and it didn't last long. I think Joe might have missed the light by a minute or two…but he's a talented photographer and I'd be curious to see what he got from that vantage point.
Your triptychs have captured my imagination and I am thinking about making some…[Read more]

That looks like the perfect vest for a Leica shooter. But having stood next to you on this trip I'm afraid it might come down to my knees 🙂 My good friend Roger is about your size but he's out of the country right now. This might be right up his alley.
