Something different is an appropriate title. How well does it work?

Hi Peter,
I don't own the 120mm, but as I recall you can use a filter holder on the 120mm if you get the correct size adapter ring. There is an issue when the lens fully retracted and I bet there is a spacer or something available to get around that. Several photographers who attended David's Fall Foliage trip last year were using the…[Read more]

I had been using the Lightroom 4 beta and didn't notice any speed issues. In fact, it seemed very fast on my new laptop. Now that I have upgraded to the actual LR 4 release I am noticing slow downs even when zooming to 100% which was near instantaneous in the Beta version.

Hey Al,
You did a good job of procrastinating on getting an iPad till now. However, now that the “new iPad” is out and you can see the benefit with the EyeFi card, resistance is futile.

Mark Gowin replied to the topic EYE-FI PRO card in the forum S2 12 years, 8 months ago
Joe had a pretty slick setup on the New England Fall Foilage trip where he used an eye-fi card to transmitt jpgs from the S2 to his iPad. It worked great and it was much easier using the iPad to check framing for landscape photography. He explains his setup here:

I had been using the LR4 beta since it came out and came to the same conclusion as you. Now that LR4 has been officially released, I have to pony up for the upgrade.

Very impressive photos. The images have a very good texture to them. I agree with you about wanting an extra stop of clean ISO. Your photo of the Harley gas cap at ISO 640 demonstrates just how good it can be when properly exposed. Too bad ISO 1250 isn't as good. Even with the relatively fast Leica S glass, sometimes you really need more low light…[Read more]

Mark Gowin replied to the topic view camera adapter for S2? in the forum Alternative Lenses 12 years, 8 months ago
Hey Stuart,
I am sure David or Josh will jump in and let you know what they have tried or are thinking of trying. They brought some sort of technical camera adapted to attach to an S2 with them on the New England fall foilage trip last fall. I used it with my S2 for a photo of a church to gain perspective control. It worked with no problem,…[Read more]

Marc, thank you for posting the link to Irakly's review. It's a solid review. I learned some technical attributes/descriptions about the S2 image quality that I have loved during my two years with S2 but didn't know how to describe in technical terms. It's too bad the Aptus back was acting up (I hope that was the case).
I have always…[Read more]

Oh, I forgot to mention that I can attest the 30mm lens, and S2 for that matter, can tolerate a significant about rain with no ill effects. It was pouring a cold rain which soon changed over to heavy snow soon after completing my try out the lens.
Nick I hope you don't me joining in on the 30mm fun.

Hi Nick,
Congratulations on getting the 30mm. It is a great lens and I am tempted to get one myself. I had the privilege of trying a prototype 30mm in NYC at PhotoPlus last fall and fell in love with it. That little extra fov from 35mm to 30mm can make huge difference and probably fits my needs better.

Thanks for posting these photos Jack. I caught myself with a big grin when viewing these photos. That was a good time.
I was wondering how you could make triptych from the waterfall and you didn't disappoint. I also like the tall skinny one also.
