Very nice images. I hadn't realized the Packers had won that many titles. I'm a big fan of Vince Lombardi, and had the deluxe glass-and-wood-framed speech on winning on my desk for years. But, I have a fondness for the Steelers, being an Easterner as it were.
Looking at those clouds, I'd hope somebody remembered an umbrella, especially when…[Read more]

New Nocti arrived, snapped a few MM images – awesome detail, back in business.

It's a good time for an update. My MM is waiting for a lens, so I've been using the XV for a week. First impression from latest use: It's a Leica, it's reasonably light, very handy, has a great zoom lens, image quality bests everything I've used that's digital, and it can be slow at times, particularly when the lens is extended. If I hadn't gotten…[Read more]

Apologies if this was answered, but how do you carry the large print around, and protect it?

Thanks David. There are so many factors …. but the scaling thing may very well account for why some of my images look great and others that should look as good don't have the same impact on the same screen. In any case I have a lot of automation tools for the PC that don't run native on the Mac, so a good PC laptop will come in handy on road…[Read more]

I've had a lot of laptops since 1984, but all of them had lousy screens. Now I have a Macbook, but I see that some of the PC vendors like Dell are making stylish laptops that are slim with good screens, and I wonder if any of those have screens that are good enough to use for casual editing and viewing without the need for color calibration.

Great thoughts. More resolution shouldn't hurt. A lens and camera that support a sometimes spontaneous shooting style is my favorite. I've belonged to several clubs that identified as photo clubs (as compared to camera clubs), the last one a really big regional club, but everyone always went out to the shoots with camera and big tripod. So far…[Read more]

This 18746 bag is now carrying the M Monochrom and Noctilux lens comfortably, although I have to fold the strap carefully to squeeze it in. Then the pouch in front holds microfiber cloth, extra SD cards, SD and microSD adapters, ballpoint pen, small papers etc.

Thanks – every time I pop off the lens cap and look at that amazing f1.4 lens, I wonder if it would be possible for Leica to top that one someday.

Correction to prior post: I don't think the formatting is the fault of the display software here, since the file apparently isn't stored here. But although it's an extra step and not ideally convenient, you can right-click the image and save it to your computer, then double-click the saved file on your computer and your computer will fit it to the screen.

mguffin;4983 wrote: Very nice, but much bigger than my monitor… 🙂
That's the big problem with a lot of forums – the original source (my primitive website) auto-fits the image to whatever screen you have, but most forums prefer the files to be stored on the forum, then they don't auto-resize.

I really like the G-Star Raw – the extras like the wrist strap and carry case I really use, and they account for a lot of that difference.

When the X1 was introduced on 9th Sept. 2009, Leica offered a brochure suggesting, or perhaps stating clearly (cannot remember) that images from the fashion shoot in that brochure were made with the X1. And so here for the first time since then, to my eyes anyway, is a real-life collection of comparable images with the X2. And the quality of these…[Read more]
