Me – yes. Legacy behaviour from Nikon but I find it most convenient.

My S2-P came with a displaced screen. Easy job to put it back in place with surgical tools. To avoid scratching I simply gave the tips of the tweezers a spray with Teflon before use.
If Solms will send me a micro prism screen I will repeat the exercise (hint!!! On order for a long time now :-))

I usually use MF or do the same as Marc

I use a Tamrac Boomerang for the S2 the same as fir the D3x. Comfortable and strain-free at the back. Like Queen Elizabeth 1st and her bath, I replace the strap once per year whether it needs it or not

David Farkas;1387 wrote: I thought that the R1C1 might work with the S2 in manual mode, but according to a few S2 owners who have the R1C1 and have tried it, the R1C1 does not work.
I'm curious if Canon Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX would work in Manual mode on the S2…. any S2 users have one laying around?
I confirm that the R1C1 does not work … Or at least that I cannot get it to work.

Don't flame David. He did thereal hard work in finding therelevant part of the manual ….. Which is not the easiest job in the world.
I can confirm that it all works just like the book says.

I confirm what IceMan has found. I cannot get this same combination to fire.

I would like to add my request for user choice over SD or CF as the first used storage medium. Note that I am not asking for parallel processing, simply a user choice. The reason is simple .. one less piece of equipment to take with me when travelling with my MacBook Air which has a built in SD card slot.
Not really much else I want at the moment.
Maybe a decent wireless release or better compatibility with commercial systems (hardware and firmware respectively I suspect)

I use Helicon a lot. I have never used 28 images to stack. I usually max at 8.
I presume you were on a tripod and rail. If not you have no real chance. S2 files give the programme a headache at the best of times.
My favoured approach at the moment is not to change the focal plane directly but to move the camera on the rail.
With my Nikons I use the Helicon focus control software, but that is a no-no for the S2
Nice image anyway

Not endangering other camera … they don't get taken out to play in the nasty wet wild world so often, but rather get to stay at home in their nice warm cupboard.
Endangering the pocket though. I am using the S2 so much in the wild that I have just decided to upgrade to the S2-P for maximum protection in the field. I am collecting it later this morning.
I still need the D3X/S for distance work with long lenses though. The D7000/S2 is an interesting travel combination (and the D400/S2 will be even better I guess).

I only read it because I had the same question when I started using the SF 58;-)
Manuals should only be read when they are prepared by people who have actually used the item in question. A very rare phenomenon IMHO.
Anyway, glad to be of help
