I think that a 90mm-250mm zoomlens would be a great idea but even at say f/5.6, I fear that it would be to heavy for easy use.
    I look forward to a 300mm f/3.5 lens..
I have been looking forward to that lens now for 3 years but I am patient…

I have been using the Gura Gear Kiboko 30L and most recently the Bataflae32L . They are sturdy, ingeniously designed and can fit two S2 bodies, four lenses and a lot of miscellaneous gear. They are by far and away the best backpacks I have ever used. Their website is http://www.guragear.com/

I noticed that after I installed the new software that many of my previously selected menu options such as two of the custom options and the date/time were nullified. I simply re-adjusted. Has this been reported before?

I heartedly concur with Mark in regards to Leica's ongoing superlative service…. Not to mention the enthralling quality of their products… Albert;)

You were very lucky and won't repeat that mistake again! How did your pictures come out? Was the electronic connection perfect despite the incomplete connection?

I have used the Visible Dust cleaning sticks with Ecclipse to good effect on several occasions when simple Giotto Rocket Blowing and Arctic Butterfly brushing failed. The wet clean was daunting at first but, if done carefully and calmly, is most efficacious. I agree that it is NOT for the faint of heart. You can practice on a small piece of glass to get an idea. Put the glass inside a small box to mimic the camera chamber. If you feel confident then proceed. If not, send back to Leica.
When I first informed David Farkas of my plan to do this, he almost fainted. He knows how careful and meticulous I am but it is important for all of us not to be intimidated by a procedure that most of us can readily master…

I have both the 120 and the 180. The former is the direct descendant of the famous 100mm MACRO R lens and it is a stunner… the ultimate MACRO but also a superb portrait lens.

Probably will be the overall best lens in the S2 universe. The 120mm is more vesatile but then again, the 180 is extraordinary as well.

You will end up buying both….

The S2 is perfectly suited for sailing and water borne photography.

I have used it without any problems in the Antarctic: I accidentally dropped the camera while on a mountain on the Antarctic peninsula and it landed in a snow bank without any ill effects..

In fact, this weekend, we leave for the ARCTIC and more photoraphic adventures!

I have been using lossless compression for the past two years and have not noticed any detrimental changes. :):)

I back up each card to two portable LaCie 750GB hard drives. I also check that each picture is displayed on the LED backscreen as an added precaution. And yes, I always format in the camera and not on the PC.
Did you send in your Sandisk card for evluation? Any idea as to what sparked the failure?

Were you able to view images on the LCD? This is truly distressing… I have been using 64GB CF and 32GB SD cards in my S2 without any problems so far but I always back up at teh end of the day as a safety measure… Using 2, 4 or 8GB cards would be very difficult and frankly impractical. I always reformat in the S2 every time I commence a new shoot with the card.
