New LEICA SUMMILUX-M 35MM F/1.4 Steel Rim lead times

Hi Guys,

I’m looking to find out a little more about the new LEICA SUMMILUX-M 35MM F/1.4 Steel Rim lens.

I put a deposit down on one with my local branch of London Camera Exchange in the UK and have just been told it’s likely to be a wait of around 9 months before it will be delivered from Leica. I’ve only ever bought from stock before so was curious to know what peoples experience of pre-ordering has been?

I’d also be interested to know if this lead time is unique to this lens and if Leica see this as a limited or low volume production lens?

Any info or insights on the above would be very welcome.
