Just spent a week on the iconic Northern California coastline with Leica instructor Tom Brichta and seven new friends photographing from dawn till dusk. Tom works hard to scout all of the locations way ahead of time and making sure that we are where we should be for the best light. Not an easy task as I have explored the area before and driven past or just not known about where some of the best shots could be had. The shot of the cala lilies was from a tip that they reside in a gorge about a quarter mile down the coast from where we parked. I would not have known this unless I spent a whole lot of time there. I feel it was money well spent, food and lodging were fantastic and the benefit of a good scout was invaluable.

These are great images, thanks for sharing. My wife and I are going to be visting the Wiliamette Valley wineries and then traveling up the Olympic Penninsula into Seattle this fall with my S2 kit in tow and I do hope to be able to capture some similar shots.

Pesto,
If you are driving up the coast, at the border of California and Oregon there is a spectacular grove of redwood trees (sequoias) at the Jeddidiah Smith Redwoods.Safe driving!
