I’m planning to apply for a residency program soon, and I’m thinking about the best way to compose a personal statement. Should I write it myself to express my thoughts and feelings, or perhaps it’s better to seek professional help? Has anyone here faced this choice before? If so, please share your experience! And what are the key elements that should be included in such a statement?

Hello! I recently went through this process myself. My opinion is that it’s better to try writing it yourself. No one knows you better than you do. It’s important to include information about your medical experience and your motivation for choosing this residency. However, if you’re unsure about your writing abilities, seeking help from professionals is an option. For instance, I asked friends and former mentors to provide feedback on my text, and that helped me improve it. Good luck!

Thank you for your response! Yes, friends have suggested having someone review it. Nonetheless, I’m still curious if anyone has experience with professional statement writing services. Is it worth considering this option at all?
