David Farkas asked on the forum what our favorite 50mm lenses were. I replied that I only had one, so the modern Elmar 2.8 collapsable is my favorite. The lens is no longer sold new, and I confess that I have rarely used in the digital world.

I was going on a non-photograpy business trip to Washington DC and decided to bring the lens along, attached to my M9 just to see how I liked it. I found it a pleasure to use.
I brought no other lens with me. This is a pretty subtle combination with a simple wrist strap. I found the focusing took a moment to adjust to as one can also accidentally collapse the lens. I shot some pictures in the Leica Store and a few street shots on the walk back to my hotel. The one of the girl using an iPad to take a photo of the White House is my favorite.

I think I will leave this lens on the camera for awhile.
