These are the first images I have posted so I hope I’m doing it right. I wasn’t sure how big a file I should upload so they are limited at 1024 on a given side and 72ppi. The quality setting is 70%. Please let me know if there is a better way to size for uploading. Thanks

    Hi Cam,

I always like to see pictures from Hawaii. Such a beautiful place. Regarding your question David wrote the following: “Keep in mind we have no file quotas or maximum pixel dimension limits on attachments. As long as the JPG is under 20MB, you can attach as large a file as you like. The system will automatically create a 550px wide/tall thumbnail, which when clicked will open the full size, unresampled image in a new tab. We thought this would enable quick loading on pages while allowing for large image sharing.”

    Show us some more. 🙂

    Cheers,
    Pete

    Cam,

    Beautiful shots!

Regarding your question, I usually upload images which are 1800px on the long side, quality level 90 out of LR.

    Love to see more images.

Very nice indeed! I especially like #4, though #1 & 3 show an intriguing “beach-scape”. I’m curious about the location, as I’ll be traveling to the state later this Fall. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the feedback on the images. Although, this is mostly a family vacation I have been able to shoot a few times. I’ll post a few more images soon. These images were all shot within an hour at the same location – Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park on the island of Hawaii. This is a place that deserves some serious shooting time as there is much to shoot.

Oh, yes, the place of refuge; I’ve been there a couple times but somehow missed seeing that dramatic shoreline. Or certainly missed seeing it in that way you did! We have stayed at Keauhou, so it was not so far down the road to visit.

We’ll be on Maui this time, so will have other things to shoot. Thanks!

Here are a few more from Hawaii. BTW, I converted these to sRGB. Is that necessary considering that most people that view these images have a calibrated monitor? Comments welcomed – both positive and negative. Thanks

Cam, I really love the second one. I like the dynamic, the texture of the wave, the composition and the colors. Really Hawaii. :p

I’m always converting my images to sRGB when showing pictures in the net as you never know who is watching on which device and having it as an “action” it is just one click. But maybe my point of view is a little bit outdated in the meantime. 😉

Thanks Pete for your comments. I also like the second one the best and will work on improving it now that I’m home. I think I’ll stick with sRGB until I hear something that changes my mind.
