Today, Leica has announced a new special edition camera, the Leica D-Lux 7 Vans x Ray Barbee Edition. The limited release D-Lux 7 digital camera is a collaboration between Leica, skate culture brand Vans, and photographer, skater and musician Ray Barbee. Functionally identical to a standard Leica D-Lux 7, the Vans x Ray Barbee Edition plays off one of Vans most iconic designs with the camera wrapped in a special black and white checkerboard cladding. Engraved on the top of the camera is Ray Barbee's signature with the Vans Vault logo, a sub-brand which Vans reserves for high-end products and exclusive collaborations.
Also included in the set are a special adjustable textile carrying strap with white leather accents and a unique dust bag that provides protection against scratches and dust, both in a striking Petrol Blue color.One side of the bag features Barbee’s quote, “The joy is in capturing the journey,” which has become the motto of this joint venture and its resulting products with Vans. The other side of has the famous words of Ernst Leitz II: “Ich entscheide hiermit: Es wird riskiert” (“I herby decide: the risk shall be taken”) – the approval for the production of the original Leica I in 1924. To complete the full look, Vans is also offering matching shoes and T-shirts, which will be available separately through their apparel outlets.
The limited-edition Leica D-Lux 7 Vans x Ray Barbee has the same technical specifications as the serially produced model, distinguished by a large Micro Four Thirds sensor and fast f/1.7 zoom lens with a full-frame-equivalent range of 24 – 75mm.

Vans has been creating skate shoes and clothing for more than five decades – staying true to its underground essence whilst gaining global renown.
