Anyone out there know of someone who has this in stock? I’m looking to find one as soon as I can.

    Thanks much!

I think a bunch of us are in the same boat. Really do not understand why something as simple as this should be taking as long as it has…

We were told that the microprism screen would start shipping in January. It’s January and I see that some of our European members have already received screens. The usual pattern is that the US is 3 weeks behind Europe in terms of new product deliveries. So, I’d expect to see pretty good quantities in 1-2 weeks.

I ordered mine and still waiting ! This waiting game is rather irritating …. went to see my dealer the other day and met the Leica Rep Uk … talking about how thinks are going and how I like it … and why I don’t shoot more stuff with my S2 ? My reply was, I’d love to but since I don’t even have a complete system (lenses unavailable ) how can I ? Instead I am using my trusted Hasselblad H4d50 with all the lenses … Leica = patients and having a good back up in place to do what a photographer needs to do.

I got mine at random. Although on order for several months, I happened to walk into a Leica store in Zuerich and they had received one from Solms that morning. Needless to say, its residence time “in stock” was very low.

Those who have tried it-how do you like the new Microprism focusing screen ?
Do you plan to constantly use it instead of the standard screen?
Is it brighter than the standard screen?
    Thanks a lot, Tom

I can’t remember the difference in terms of brightness but I do know that I will never ever use the standard screen again. Manual focus is pretty easy.

The matte area of the screen is the same as the standard screen, but I’d guess that the microprism circle is about a stop brighter.

    Thank you -that sounds promising.
I have ordered one yesterday and this encourages me that it was the right decision.
I use AF a lot but sometimes correct manually, and insome scenery MF works better. It works well with the standard screen but I assume even better with the microprism.

I just received my microprism screen , installed it right away… and found out that focusing with the screen leads to very slight backfocus while the AF works fine.
Any recommandations? Anybody with the same problem?
I can not really say how accurate manual focus worked before with the old screen.

I would try removing and reinstalling the screen. It may not have seated 100% correctly.

Thanks David. I will re-install it.
Thanks for all the good info here.
Too bad I am living to far away to be your customer.

Just to follow up. I reinstalled twice and its the same problem.
Then I put in the old focusing screen and it turns out that it shows the same behaviour (just more difficult to realized because there is no split line)

What I allways thought would be an AF more precise than my eyes seems to be a screen holder which is not in its totally accurate position.
Looks like a trip to Solms for my S2 ;(
