Leica M, Leica S, Leica CLOfflineWith the introduction of the 24mm S, I am anticipating the question of how the angle of capture compares to a 35mm S.
I decided to run an angle of view test.
This was shot using M lenses hand held for my comparison since I have a 35S with a 28mm equivalent, but obviously I do not have the 24S. To simulate the 24S I used a WATE set on my estimate of 19mm.Then, for further comparison, I took three shots with the narrower lens and merged them to try and create the wider view. With new tools in CS6 I could straighten the curved lines, but it is time consuming. And to capture the foreground and the upper light fixture, I would have had to merge four vertical shots.
The final frame show the 24 vs 35 shots with the two in comparison to display what additional image gets included. It makes a very visible difference, with interiors.
Traditionally, if one wants to take a wider shot, just step back. That is not so easy with interior shots.
